Sagi-ike Ukimido

Floating on the surface of Sagi-ike Pond, this hexagonal hall with cypress bark roof is beautifully reflected on the surface of the pond and is popular as a place for relaxation and recreation by the water.

Ukimido-Do was built in 1916 and rebuilt in 1994. It is illuminated at night.

The surrounding cherry blossoms and sarsaparilla are also magnificent, and in the fall, visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the autumn leaves and Ukimido.

The park is located in Asajigahara-enchi, a national scenic beauty spot in Nara Park, which is dotted with Todaiji Temple, Kofukuji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and other properties designated as national treasures and registered as World Heritage sites.

The Asajigahara Enchi is also home to the Kataoka Plum Grove, an old plum grove with 250 plum trees that bloom from late February to mid-March.
