The valley is located in the lower reaches of the Sanjo River, which flows from Omine Mountain, and its beautiful scenery of cascading waterfalls of various sizes, surrounded by huge stones and oddly shaped rocks, can be enjoyed in all four seasons.
The beauty of the valley attracts visitors throughout the four seasons: spring with its fresh green foliage, summer with its splashing water and colorful river satsuki, autumn with its autumn leaves, said to be the best in the Kinki region, and winter with its landscape painting-like scenery.
A 7-kilometer promenade has been developed along the river, and a suspension bridge overlooks the falls.
The promenade is a pleasant walk even in the hot summer, and visitors can enjoy a refreshing workout while feeling comfortable and enjoying the natural scenery created by the crystal clear river and abundant varieties of trees.
The mysterious abyss is glowing emerald green and is a sight to behold.
The canyon has a large difference in elevation, with waterfalls of all sizes cascading down from the large rock walls at the foot of the mountain.
The surrounding forests are untouched by man.
The best time to view the autumn leaves is from late October to mid-November. However, it is recommended to visit on weekdays in summer and on weekends during the fall foliage season, as the area can be crowded.
Please visit Mitarai Valley and enjoy the beautiful scenery and feel the breath of nature.
